Prague Public Transport Guide for Skaters
Public Transport for Skaters in Prague
Prague is one of the easiest cities in Europe to explore on inline skates. You don’t need a car at all — metro, trams and buses will get you almost everywhere you want to skate.
Even better, many of the best skating spots are connected by public transport within just a few minutes. And if you need gear or advice, our shop is right next to Letná Park, one of Prague’s main skating areas.
PID Lítačka App
The easiest way to travel around Prague is the official transport app: PID Lítačka.
- Buy tickets in seconds
- Plan metro, tram and bus routes
- Live departures
- English interface available
- Works across all of Prague and surrounding areas
Don’t waste time looking for ticket machines at the airport or stations. The app is faster, easier, and you’re ready to go in seconds.
Public Transport Tickets
All metro, tram and bus services in Prague use the same ticket system operated by Prague Integrated Transport (PID).
Short-term visitors usually choose 30-minute, 90-minute, 24-hour or 72-hour tickets, all of which are available in the PID Lítačka app.
Can I use inline skates in public transport?
Yes — you can carry your skates without any problem on metro, trams and buses.
However, skating inside stations or on public transport is not allowed.
Always take your skates off before entering the metro, tram or bus, and carry them as part of your luggage.
Do Inline Skates Require an Extra Ticket?
No. Inline skates are considered personal luggage and can be carried on Prague's public transport without any additional charge, provided they are not being worn.
Travelling Comfortably with Your Skates
- Carry your skates using a backpack or skate bag.
- Remove wheel dirt before entering public transport.
- Avoid blocking doors with large backpacks.
- During busy hours keep your skates close to your body.
Getting to Inlinespecial

Nearest stops
- Kamenická (tram)
- Vltavská (Metro C)
- Hradčanská (Metro A)
From Prague Airport
Take trolleybus 59 to Nádraží Veleslavín, then continue by Metro A to Hradčanská.
From there you have two great options:
- Put on your skates and ride through Letná Park directly to our shop.
- Or take tram 1, 25 or 26 to Kamenická.
If you travel light, skating from Hradčanská through Letná is one of the nicest ways to arrive in Prague 7. It’s mostly flat and ends with a gentle downhill section towards Kamenická, where you’ll find our Inline Special shop. If you have time for a small detour and stay on the right side of Letná Park, you’ll get one of the best views in Prague — overlooking the Vltava River and the city skyline.
From Florenc Bus Station
Florenc is directly connected to the metro system.
Take Metro C to Vltavská — from there it’s a short walk uphill, or you can take just one tram stop to Kamenická.
The whole trip usually takes around 15 minutes.
Getting around Prague on skates
One of the best things about skating in Prague is how easy it is to combine transport and skating in one day.
You can skate Ladronka in the morning, move to Stromovka after lunch, and finish at Letná or one of the skateparks — all without needing a car.
Metro is the fastest way to cross the city, while trams are perfect for shorter connections between parks and trails.
Trams can get busy during rush hours (7–9 AM and 4–6 PM). If you’re carrying skating gear, travelling outside these times is much more comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I wear inline skates inside the metro or tram?
No. Inline skates must be taken off before entering public transport. They are considered sports equipment and should be carried as luggage while travelling on metro, trams or buses.
Can I carry inline skates on Prague public transport for free?
Yes. Inline skates are allowed as standard hand luggage and do not require any extra ticket as long as you are not wearing them.
Which metro or tram station is closest to Letná Park?
The closest stations are Hradčanská (Metro A), Vltavská (Metro C) and tram stop Sparta. All of them provide easy access to Letná Park and nearby skating routes.
Is it safe to skate from Hradčanská to Letná?
Yes. The route from Hradčanská up to Letná Park (including the skating oval and the Stalin area) is mostly flat and very suitable for all levels, including beginners.
The downhill section starts only at the far end of the park, in the direction of Nad Štolou / Letenský tunel (as shown on maps). This part is steeper and faster, so beginners may prefer to walk it before continuing or turning back into the park.
Do I need a special ticket for carrying skates?
No special ticket is required. Inline skates are treated as personal luggage under Prague Integrated Transport rules.
